For each room, Dawn enlisted the help of a structural engineer to puzzle out the various ceiling lines and bring functionality to the spaces. Added archways create softness from door to door. Luxurious violetta marble became a touchstone of each room and guided overall design. Tones of pale purple, black and white thread throughout each space. The walk-in closet, with a ribbed velvet bench, offers a spot for the homeowner and her daughter to sit and chat in the dressing room. Laundry is a breeze thanks to the washer and dryer that live directly within the space. Shelves, drawers, hanging rods and cubbies all display treasured clothing and accessories. Dawn added a ceiling soffit in textural wallpaper for visual warmth.
The adjacent bathroom is awe-worthy. A rosy-purple Victoria & Albert tub grounds the space, surrounded by reeded and mosaic tiling in the same violetta marble. The wall-mounted Waterworks faucet is minimal and elegant. Mosaic tile continues into the shower as an inset shelf. Digital shower controls offer the latest technology and ease. A heated porcelain floor ensures the space never feels cold, and a skylight brings in sunshine. A spacious vanity area is accented by the dramatic sloping ceiling. Myriad drawers and cabinetry in black-stained wood offer plentiful storage for makeup, skincare and everything in between. Doors and light fixtures are beautiful reeded glass, mimicking the reeded tiling nearby.
An updated vestibule—with sparkling ombré wallpaper and glamorous sconces—leads to the primary bedroom. In the bedroom, the ceiling was dropped to make the large space feel cozy, and allowed for bold pendant lighting instead of typical table lamps. A Philip Jeffries mural frames the headboard. New bedding from bldc’s in-house line, along with custom leather-trimmed pillows, offers a luxurious place to land. A crescent-shaped sofa makes for a mod sitting area, and a small sampling of the homeowner’s art collection can be found as accents throughout the room.
